Uttar Pradesh SIT Submits Report on Ayodhya Donation Theft
Uttar Pradesh Home Department submits the final SIT report on the Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft case to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, intensifying political debate.

The Uttar Pradesh Home Department officially submitted the final report from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) regarding the Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft on Tuesday. This significant development aims to address the allegations surrounding the theft of donations intended for the revered temple.
According to well-placed sources, the SIT’s final report reached the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir Teerth Kshetra Trust after thorough action from the Home Department. With this handover, the focus shifts toward potential ramifications and next steps in this high-profile case.
Authorities reconstituted the SIT earlier to investigate the alleged embezzlement of temple donations, inducting three senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. IG Kiran S leads this newly constituted SIT, supported by DIG Ayodhya Somen Verma and SSP Ayodhya Dr Gaurav Grover. The initiative followed criticism of the previous SIT, which included Lucknow Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant and Special Secretary (Finance) Neel Ratan Kumar.
On the judicial front, the Supreme Court weighed in on the investigation, clarifying that the status report from the Uttar Pradesh government cannot be disclosed to petitioners or the public at this stage. However, Chief Justice Surya Kant’s bench permitted members of the public to provide suggestions directly to the Solicitor General, who must relay them to the SIT.
The Supreme Court also directed the SIT to provide an updated status report during the next hearing. This highlights the Court’s involvement and the scrutiny under which the investigation operates.
This alleged multi-lakh rupee donation scam has raised serious concerns regarding the integrity of temple operations. Investigations suggest a systematic theft involving both temple staff and bank employees, prompting significant public outcry and demands for accountability from the Opposition parties.
Authorities have arrested eight individuals connected to the case, including Avinash Shukla, Ankalp Mishra, and Karunesh Pandey, all of whom are now under judicial remand. The First Information Report (FIR) was registered on June 25 at the Ram Janmabhoomi Police Station, initiated by Krishanmohan, a trust member.
The complaint highlights a conspiracy purportedly involving temple employees entrusted with handling and counting devotees’ donations. The resulting scandal has intensified political disputes, primarily between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the Opposition, raising questions about accountability and proper governance.
The budding controversy has elicited a robust response from political factions, further complicating the ongoing investigation. As the SIT delves deeper into the allegations, the scrutiny of donation funds management remains paramount.
With the investigation still active, the alleged irregularities concerning the misappropriation of substantial donation amounts continue to unfold. Stay tuned for further updates as this major legal and political narrative develops.
