Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme in Vadodara is set to engage thousands, as public participation surged through a unique initiative managed by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) via BookMyShow. Registration opened on Monday, and within one hour, all available seats were booked, placing over 42,000 additional applicants on a waiting list.
The free registration initiative marks a significant shift in how the government connects with citizens, utilizing innovative technology to streamline participation. Each registered attendee will receive a digital M-Ticket through their BookMyShow account, featuring a secure live QR code for efficient entry verification.
This tech-enabled entry system will enhance the overall experience, ensuring smoother crowd management and quicker access to the venue. The initiative reflects a growing trend where digital platforms bridge the gap between citizens and government events.
Prime Minister Modi will visit Gujarat and Maharashtra on Tuesday, where he plans to inaugurate and dedicate various development projects worth more than ₹35,000 crore in Vadodara.
Among these projects, the Prime Minister will dedicate three crucial sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), which cover 326 route kilometres and represent an investment of over ₹20,700 crore. The sections include the New Sanand (N) – New Makarpura, New Umbergaon – New Saphale, and New Saphale – New JNPT routes.
The implementation of this corridor will significantly improve connectivity between the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and major industrial hubs, expediting EXIM cargo transportation and reducing logistics costs, thereby alleviating congestion in Mumbai’s railway network.
Upon commissioning, the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) network will operate seamlessly across its entirety. This infrastructure aims to elevate India’s logistics ecosystem, enhancing multimodal connectivity and reducing transit times for cargo movement.
PM Modi is also set to flag off freight train services extending from New Sanand (North) and New Makarpura to New JNPT in Mumbai. Additionally, he will inaugurate a new passenger train route between Tanda Road and Vadodara (Pratapnagar) to enhance regional connectivity.
During his visit, he will dedicate the Jobat–Tanda Road new rail line, linking remote communities in Alirajpur with the national rail system, demonstrating a commitment to reach underserved regions.
Moreover, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for three significant railway projects, totaling 329 kilometres, with an estimated cost exceeding ₹9,700 crore. These projects, which include the Vadodara-Ratlam third and fourth lines, aim to bolster both passenger and freight capacity while improving travel efficiency between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
The government’s infrastructure push extends to roadways as well, with plans to lay the foundation stone for three National Highway projects valued at around ₹1,780 crore. This includes the six-laning of the Kamrej-Chalthan section of NH-48 and improvements on the Vadodara-Surat section, which will include bridge construction over the Tapi and Narmada rivers.
In addition to these ambitious projects, PM Modi will inaugurate various initiatives worth around ₹2,600 crore under the Government of Gujarat. Key projects include the Vadodara Urban Development Authority Ring Road Phase II and a 110 MW floating solar power project at Kadana Dam, among others.
Modi’s agenda also includes attending the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026 in Mumbai, one of the most prestigious annual fintech conferences globally, scheduled from September 8 to 11, 2026. GFF aims to position India as a leader in digital payments and financial inclusion while addressing contemporary financial challenges.
The GFF 2026 theme, “Potential to Impact: Agentic AI, Tokenisation, Quantum – Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance,” showcases India’s commitment to harnessing technological advancements to build a more inclusive and efficient financial landscape.
As the event approaches, anticipation grows surrounding PM Modi’s address, expected to underscore the vital role of fintech in shaping the future of financial services and enhancing global connectivity.
